We strive for individualized attention and the best medical care possible for every patient.
In 1995, Dr. Sheri Fastenrath recognized the need for an after-hours, urgent care veterinary clinic to serve the people and pets of Huntsville and the neighboring communities. There simply were too few options available to pet owners facing medical emergencies for their pets.
To respond to this need, Dr. Fastenrath gathered a team of like-minded local veterinarians to serve as the core organizing committee for what would become the Animal Emergency Clinic of North Alabama. With a well-thought plan in hand, the committee reached out to all veterinarians in Huntsville and the surrounding areas to invite them to invest and participate in the formation of this much-needed emergency veterinary care clinic.
The response from the veterinary community was prompt and positive, as many of the veterinary professionals also recognized the need for such a clinic and approved of the notion of working collaboratively to establish it. The founding members of the Animal Emergency Clinic of North Alabama are Doctors Fastenrath, Charles Horton, Mark Russell, Mike Wilson, Lewis McCurdy, Wilson McManus II, Charles Young and Sammy Linderman.
The original facility was located in a Huntsville strip mall. However, the clinic soon outgrew this site and moved to its current location at 2112 Memorial Parkway SW in Huntsville.
Today, the Animal Emergency Clinic of North Alabama is a modern, full-service after-hours, urgent veterinary care facility offering a calm and welcoming resource to pet owners in and around Huntsville. It is our intent to serve as an extension of our local veterinary hospitals by providing overnight monitoring to critical patients and timely emergency services when most other practices are not available.
Our services are based on the understanding that emergencies and the need for intensive critical care are never convenient. We believe that your pet should receive care when it is needed most, and that no animal companion should have to wait for emergency or critical care services.
This website is designed as a resource to help pet owners understand our mission, function, services and what to expect when their pets are brought to our facility.
